The 2019 Vosne-Romanée Aux Reignots 1er Cru has the most complete bouquet of Grivot’s Premier Crus, embracing both the mineralité and the opulence of the vintage in one package. It is exquisitely defined with a very subtle irony tincture. The palate is very smooth and precocious, touches of fig and dates infusing the dark cherries. Maybe this is the one cuvée that shows just a soupçon of sur-maturité, particularly on the finish. I am intrigued to retaste this once in bottle, but at the moment it doesn’t quite deliver the same panache as the Les Suchots. Just one-and-a-half barrels produced.
