Aloxe Corton, Clos du Chapitre, 1er Cru, 2021

Available Vintages
justerini & brooks tasting note

Great clarity of fruit. Very chiselled and full of energy. More red fruited and fine than the Villages, with a long persistent finish. A salinity gives this lovely freshness. Wild cherries, blossom and fine spice. Traditional, unfussy, yet refined with it. The lighter sandier clay and limestone soils of the Clos du Chapitre tends to make for a finer, rounder and fruitier style of Aloxe than the classic vineyards such as Fournieres and Vercots.

87-89/100Neal Martin,Vinous

The 2021 Aloxe-Corton Clos de Chapitre 1er Cru has a more assertive and complex nose compared to the Village Cru, with touches of loam and undergrowth. The palate is slightly high-toned on the entry and a touch spiced. However, it doesn't quite kick on towards the finish due to the growing season rather than any winemaking. Overall, not a bad Aloxe-Corton by a long shot, but the Les Vercots is better.
