Aloxe Corton, Clos du Chapitre, 1er Cru, 2022
A mouthwatering, saline Clos de Chapitre that hails as ever from the lighter sandier clay and limestone soils of the Clos. Hedgerow fruit, salt and pipe wood flavours are underpinned by crisp beams of fine tannin, with a tension that suggest a modicum of patience will be required for the tightly wound flavours to reveal themselves fully.

The 2022 Aloxe-Corton Clos du Chapitre 1er Cru is quite sensual on the nose: mainly red fruit here, with hints of sous-bois coming through with time. Perhaps not the most complex on the block, but it develops an attractive floral note. The palate has a candied quality, an Aloxe-Corton laden with sucrosity, and a faint ginger note infusing the red fruit towards the finish. Fine.
