Bourgogne, Passetoutgrain, 2019

justerini & brooks tasting note

Clear, smooth and sapid, the fruit is well-rounded, ripe and fresh with a savoury and pronounced salinity that betrays the Gamay component (of which there is always less than a quarter in the blend). The richness and depth here is surprising for this level of wine, whilst Gamay’s saltiness adds bite to the ripe juicy fruit. A Passetoutgrain of tremendous class. A blend of a maximum 25% Gamay and 75% Pinot Noir aged in used oak barrels only.

critic reviews

85-86/100Neal Martin,Vinous

The 2019 Bourgogne Passetoutgrains has a perfumed, floral bouquet with peony and iris flower permeating the lifted red fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly chewy tannins, fine acidity with gentle grip on the finish. Maybe a bit "glou-glou" but hey, there is no reason why a Passtoutgrains shouldn't be!
