Condrieu, Coteau de Chery, 2022

Available Vintages
justerini & brooks tasting note

One of the great wines of Condrieu, Perret’s Chery 2022 is sparkling and animated in profile, as lemon, mirabelle and violet intermingle with touches of fine earth and delicate, wispy stones and smoke on the first pour. Incredibly pure and finessed on the palate, the 2022 is simultaneously mineral, floral, ripe and finessed. Stunning. The Chery vineyard boasts very pure, soft sandy granite soils that enable the roots to go deep, resulting in wines of strong mineral character. The vines are between 40 and 80 years old. It is one of the great vineyards of Condrieu. Aged in barriques for a year, of which only 10% are new.

critic reviews

96/100Yohan Castaing,Robert Parker Wine Advocate

Perret's emblematic cuvee, the 2022 Condrieu Chery, is purer and more ethereal than Clos Chanson due to its granite and sandy soils. Evoking aromas of pear, menthol, white peach, flowers and delicate notes of spices, it's full-bodied, satiny and enveloping with a multidimensional but weightless core of fruit, racy acids and a long, precise and intensely mineral, saline and vibrant finish. Currently structured and reserved, its evolution in the bottle promises to be compelling. This is a must-have for aficionados of profound, precise and pure Rhone Valley whites.

94/100Nicolas Greinacher,Vinous

The 2022 Condrieu Chéry deserves a round of applause. Vinified from just-ripe Viognier grapes harvested on the 24th of August, it dazzles with pronounced intensity of lemon flesh, apricot, white peach, ripe pear, cedar and quince. Banana and melon lend tropical gradations. Despite the fairly warm and dry vintage, the 2022 captures the freshness remarkably well. Landing on a complex finish, this Condrieu is built for the long haul and comes highly recommended.
