Graacher, Riesling, Trocken, Screwcap, 2022

Available Vintages
justerini & brooks tasting note

Lean and tight, the Graacher Trocken is a high wire, dew-like Riesling with crisp, refreshing limey fruits. Usually, the fruit comes from the Himmelreich but in 2021 and 2022 there is some Domprobst in there too. Produced in the large neutral oak barrels as usual, racked a little earlier, then kept on the fine lees all the way through to bottling in April.

critic reviews

90/100Anne Krebiehl,Vinous

The 2022 Graacher Riesling trocken is mostly harvested in the Himmelreich with a little Domprobst, usually from higher parcels, as they are lighter due to altitude. Pure lemon perfume of fruit and zest amplifies on the nose. This is downright a citrus breeze with a peppery edge promptly reappearing on the palate, as does pure, serene lemon. The body is as light as a caress, beautiful with a salty, stony tang joining the lemon finish. (Dry)

93/100Stephan Reinhardt,Robert Parker Wine Advocate

Sourced predominantly in the Himmelreich and racked from the lees until March due to a slow fermentation of the dry and feinherb wines, the 2022 Graacher Riesling trocken opens with a clear, deep and flinty, still nicely reductive bouquet of ripe, aromatic and juicy yellow stone fruits. Bottled in late April, this is a round and elegant, mouth-filling, juicy and well-balanced Graacher with savory acidity and a stimulating, saline and citric finish. This is a gorgeous dry Riesling from Graach that didn't suffer any heatwaves like in 2018, 2019 or 2020, although it was an extraordinarily warm and dry vintage. 11.5% stated alcohol. Screw-cap closure. Tasted in May 2023.
