Echézeaux, Grand Cru, 2017

Available Vintages
justerini & brooks tasting note

Soft, delicate red fruits set in a gripping nervy structure. Lots of crushed stone, red berry and fresh-cut flower character with hints of rosehip. The finish is expansive and haunting. Tremendous energy. From three parcels, the great Les Cruots (much beloved by Henri Jayer,) Clos St Denis and Champs Traversins, making this a lively and bright, elegant style of Echézeaux.

critic reviews

90/100Neal Martin,Vinous

The 2017 Echézeaux Grand Cru has a backward, stubborn, slightly earthy nose that opens with aeration to offer some redeeming floral scents of rose petal and peony. The palate is medium-bodied with a tight opening, rather stringy tannins and fine acidity, and shows a little attenuation toward the austere finish. Hmm... I was expecting more given its excellent showing from barrel. Maybe it’s just closing down. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting.
