St Aubin, Les Charmois, 1er Cru, 2020
Bursting with fruit and breezy sunshine, this has a wonderfully crisp and crunchy yellow plum character, with a tense orange zest freshness giving the fruit some kick. Fruit-driven, precise and totally seductive. The soils are a little deeper here than in the St Aubin Pitangerets and the vines better exposed, facing south. The wines tend to be riper, fruitier and more generous in their youth as a result.

Aromas of pear, Meyer lemon, hazelnuts and nutmeg introduce the 2020 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Les Charmois, a medium to full-bodied, racy and precise wine with an elegantly fleshy core of fruit, tangy acids and a chalky finish. This, too, is very promising.
The 2020 Saint-Aubin Le Charmois 1er Cru has a well-defined bouquet with green apple, fern and light crushed rock aromas. The palate is well balanced with a touch of reduction on the entry, good tension, a little short but there is plenty of energy here. Very fine.
