St Aubin, Les Charmois, 1er Cru, 2022
Less reductive with more calm sweet deep fruit than Pitangerets. Flowing, glowing, textural - there’s minerality here but it's buried below the fruit for now. Charmer by name...The soils are a little deeper here than in the St Aubin Pitangerets and the vines better exposed, facing South. The wines tend to be riper, fruitier and more generous in their youth as a result.
critic reviews
The 2022 Saint-Aubin Charmois 1er Cru has shaken off its reduction since I tasted it in barrel, clean and precise. Lemon sherbet and orange zest come through with time. The palate is medium-bodied with a slightly honeyed entry and just that faintest dab of strawberry. It's less tangy than I remember with that candied, somewhat viscous finish. Lovely. Tasted at the Stannary Wines dinner in London with Thierry Pillot.
