    Justerini & Brooks Tasting note

Clerc Milon 2024 displays a perfumed nose, marked by wild herbs and floral notes of lavender, peony, and violet, alongside a touch of nutmeg and potpourri. Bright, dark cherry and redcurrant aromas are evident, accompanied by underlying hints of almond, cocoa nib, and mocha. The mid-palate offers a juicy and engaging character with considerable energy and detail. Well-integrated tannins provide a resonant finish of bittersweet berries mingled with graphite. As ever, top winemaking from the Mouton Rothschild team.

Deep garnet-purple colored. Needs a little swirling to bring out notes of red currants and fresh blackberries, plus nuances of underbrush, bay leaves, and graphite. The light to medium-bodied palate has a silky texture and bright red berry flavors with savory accents and a refreshing finish.

The 2024 Clerc Milon was picked from September 24 to October 6 and raised in 55% new oak with just a little more Cabernet than previous years. It has a fragrant bouquet with blackberry, briar and light iodine scents that unfold nicely in the glass, though it's not as vigorous as the top vintages. The palate is medium-bodied with finely cut tannins. It has moderate weight and density, with a pleasing sweetness of fruit that comes through on the finish. This Clerc Milon has an appealing sense of composure and it should age well in bottle.

Excellent quality, well defined, you see the grip of the terroir here, and the floral edge of Cabernet and Carmanère, with its spicy side, and beautiful lift. Clearly needs time to full open, this has the cassis, cigar box and leather feel of a great old school Pauillac. Lovely. Harvest 24 September to 6 October. 3.72 pH. 55% new oak.
