Straw-gold. Peach, pear eau de vie and mint on the cool, slightly high-toned nose. Good tangy flavor intensity, texture and weight. Offers less weight and botrytis character than the '97 but conveys an impression of chewy extract. Finishes spicy and long, with a note of toffee.

1996: The light-style 1996 possesses a light golden color, moderate sweetness, and a flinty, citrusy, buttery nose with evidence of coconut, pears, oranges, and pineapples. In the mouth, it is medium-bodied and stylish with considerable elegance. Anticipated maturity: now-2015.
