98/100Jane Anson,Inside Bordeaux
Ripe ruby red, with vivid starry reflections, crushed red rose petals on the opening. Easy to sink into the cured leather, white truffle, raspberry puree and redcurrant fruits, all held in place by still taut tannic architecture. This has still-evolving depths and character, with layered complexity. Delicious, a wine that retains its reserve at ten years old and will reward further cellaring. 100% new oak. Paul Pontallier's last vintage, although Sebastien Vergne oversaw harvest, with Philippe Bascaules returning from Napa to take over the director's role.
