Domaine de Cambes, Bordeaux, 2017
Domaine de Cambes 2017 is a delight. It has all the hallmarks of a Francois Mitjavile wine; it is fragrant, alluring and joyous. It isn't overly complex; this does exactly what it sets out to do, it gives pure unbridled pleasure with its aromatic fruit bomb of a nose, through its velvety texture and swathes of lavish fruit and onto its round and silky tannins. A wonderfully exuberant Domaine de Cambes.
critic reviews
The 2017 Domaine des Cambes is a blend of around 65% Merlot and 35% Cabernet Franc. The 2017 has a very Burgundy-like bouquet with wonderful, pure blackberry, briary and clove aromas unfurling on the nose, though it remains a little tighter than the Domaine de l’Aurage. The palate has an edgy quality that I admire. A subtle marine influence with hints of Japanese nori permeates the dusky black fruit on the finish. A hint of dark chocolate on the aftertaste. Excellent.
The 2017 Domaine de Cambes is medium to deep garnet-purple in color with very pretty notes of kirsch, warm plums and black raspberries with hints of roses, cinnamon stick and tobacco. The palate is medium to full-bodied, firm and chewy with plenty of juicy fruit and a long, savory finish.
