Domaine de Cambes, Bordeaux, 2019
The 2019 Domaine de Cambes is back to its expressive and sumptuous best. Initially, there's an explosion of kirsch, plums and dried fruits, it's almost Amaroneesque. The palate is sweet and decadent, packed with exotic fruit. A lovely seam of acidity counterbalances the opulent fruit, providing freshness and zip. A very gratifying Domaine de Cambes, which will provide lots of early drinking pleasure.
critic reviews
Medium garnet-purple colored, the 2019 Domaine de Cambes charges out with rambunctious notes of plum preserves, stewed black cherries, and unsmoked cigars, plus suggestions of cedar, forest floor, and licorice. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is rich and chewy with loads of savory accents lifting the black fruit preserves flavors on the long finish.
The 2019 Domaine des Cambes has a tightly wound bouquet that needs more time in the glass, opening to offer black cherries, boysenberry and a touch of wild heather, almost Burgundian in style. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, very well-judged acidity, and flavors of black plum mixed with soy, white pepper and clove that linger on the finish. Very fine.
