Puligny-Montrachet, Les Referts, 1er Cru, 2019
A beauty. From prime-situated vines next door to those of Sauzet, where the large clay content of the soils yields generous round wines of beautiful fruit. Fermentation and élévage take place in 350 litre barrels, with no bâtonnage, for 12 months before six months in stainless steel.
critic reviews
The 2019 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Referts wafts from he glass with notes of pear, lime, iodine, fresh bread and nutmeg. Medium to full-bodied, layered and textural, with an ample and gourmand core of fruit that's girdled by lively acids and fine structuring extract.
The 2019 Puligny-Montrachet Les Referts 1er Cru has a tightly wound, wet limestone and gunflint scented bouquet that is very well focused. The palate is well balanced with an intense opening, well-knit but just missing a little tension and energy on the finish. Not bad, but maybe I expected more from this cuvée.
