Puligny Montrachet, Les Referts, 1er Cru, 2023
An irresistible Referts with excellent fruit focus, fine peachy finesse and some real depth. Open and engaging yet with a surprisingly long finish. There’s lots to love and you will not need to wait all that long to love it. From prime-situated vines next door to those of Sauzet, where the large clay content of the soils yields generous, round wines of beautiful fruit. Fermentation and élevage take place in 350-litre barrels, with no bâtonnage, for 12 months before six months in stainless steel.
critic reviews
The 2023 Puligny-Montrachet Les Referts 1er Cru has a taut bouquet with scents of oyster shell and Granny Smith that need a little more vigor. The palate is well balanced, taut and fresh, with a fine bead of acidity and a more neutral finish than perhaps I would have liked. It is a little austere compared to its peers, but it should age well in bottle.
