Gevrey Chambertin, La Petite Chapelle, 1er Cru, 2023
justerini & brooks tasting note
One of the more backward wines in the cellar, with irony fruit and an earthy rich mineral core. Freshness comes by way of a salitness, which bolsters the robust, concentrated fruit core. Classically Gevrey. Situated just under Chapelle Chambertin, where the soils are typically "Gevrey”, and clay dominated.

The 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin Petite Chapelle 1er Cru has quite an intense mineralité on the nose that is an absolute joy. The oak is beautifully integrated. The palate is medium-bodied and high-toned with a sweet entry, slightly vanilla-like red fruit and a touch of black pepper toward the finish. This will require a bit of time to fully integrate, but it will be worth the wait.
