Chambertin, Grand Cru, 2009

From the northern part of Chambertin where the wines tends to be particularly refined in style. Incredibly flattering for a Chambertin, usually the most austere and brooding wine of this cellar; floral and with beautifully ripe flavours, fruit characteristics of cherry, sloe, red berries and currants with an excellent tannic grip. Despite all of this fruit, though, there is a lovely freshness and a strong terroir complexity, highlighted on the finish with overtones of stone and mineral. First class.
