    Justerini & Brooks Tasting note

A wild mineral nose precedes a great but finely-chiselled structure steadying the seductive fruit flavours. Creamy and suave initially but this tightens to reveal some steel and backbone on the finish. Mineral and rocky but padded out by some sweet strawberry fruit. Serious and resplendent with terroir character. The stature, energy and grace of a great Grand Cru. Superb. Latricieres is a much cooler, windier terroir than Clos de la Roche, yielding wines that are often rather austere and reticent in its youth but blossoms with age.

The 2017 Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru has a beautifully defined bouquet of black cherries, wild strawberry, desiccated orange peel and crushed stone. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained, quite supple tannins for this particular Grand Cru. The structure comes in the second half, which is saline and strict, and very finely proportioned on the finish. Quintessentially Latricières. Wonderful. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting.
