Marsannay, Clos du Roy, 2022

A brilliant Marsannay from an excellent and well-draining vineyard that has a high percentage of old vines, which produces small concentrated bunches. It is a tiny plot of just 0.25ha, fermented with 50% whole bunches. Of the three barrels that were produced, one was new. The quality is clear to see, with an inviting combination of intensity and brightness on the palate, beams of light illuminating the deep fruit and focussed concentration. Embryonic, but showing great promise.
