Château de Meursault
Pommard, Clos des Epenots, 1er Cru, 2017
justerini & brooks tasting note
Really tense red fruit. Lively fruit with a stony quality to it as well. This leans towards Volnay in style. Beautiful, fresh red cherry and raspberry fruit, notes of wild herb too. Crisp and invigorating, really driven and alive with a coiled complexity lying at its core. A fine-tuned, athletic Pommard. One of the great Pommard climates producing wines of great finesse and longevity. The vines were planted between 1948 and 1978 and the soils here are well-drained.
