Domaine de Montille
Corton Charlemagne, Grand Cru, 2023
justerini & brooks tasting note
A very clear and well-defined nose. This has a real class to it, less starry-eyed than the caillerets, with more body and structure and architecture, but there's also a real balance and purity here. There's a finishing tension that gives this some real interest. From behind Pougets, a mid-slope, south, south-east facing vineyard of 35 years old, aged in a mixture of small barriques and larger demi-muid barrels to minimise oak influence.

The 2023 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru is a touch eggy on the nose through reduction. There is good weight on the palate, but I will not assess this for now.
