Corton Charlemagne, Grand Cru, 2022
A more intense nose than anything prior, with lots of fruit on the palate too – peaches and pears, tension and extract, there’s structure and grip here too in this powerful, muscular, deep and long Corton Charlemagne. Very complete. From behind Pougets, a mid-slope, south-south-east facing vineyard of 35 years old, aged in a mixture of small barriques and larger demi-muid barrels to minimise oak influence.
critic reviews
The 2022 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru is located in the "Pougets" lieu-dit towards the top of the south/southeast facing part of the hill on red clay soils. The nose, more refined than its peers, offers lemon verbena mixed with chai tea and almonds. The palate is well-balanced with gentle grip and quite sapid in the mouth. It’s not a Corton-Charlemagne with huge matières, but it delivers in terms of tension and freshness on the finish. Excellent.
