Vosne-Romanée, Aux Malconsorts, 1er Cru, 2022
A complex, detailed, multi-faceted nose heralds a creamy deep core to the Malconsorts, with typically firm muscular tannins swathed in velvety fruit; deep, long and luxuriant. Power swathed in seductive fruit. Very long. Fermented with around 50% whole bunches in 2021 and aged 45% new oak.
critic reviews
The 2022 Vosne-Romanée Les Malconsorts 1er Cru includes 80% whole clusters this year. Taut and fresh on the nose, this offers a mixture of red and black fruit with hints of brine and black olive. There is a crystalline quality to this cuvée. The palate is medium-bodied, fresh and sapid, with black cherries and bilberry fruit, gaining weight towards the finish that exerts a gentle grip. Tightly wound on the finish, this is a very fine Malconsorts, even if it doesn't quite match the heights of the Cuvée Christiane.
