Nuits St Georges, Les Pruliers, 1er Cru, 2021
A classy Pruliers that’s relatively discreet, composed of fine, pure red fruits with a gentle mineral core, super fine talc-like tannins, and suggestions of sweet tea leaves on the finish. It runs seamlessly from fruit into something more savoury on the gentle whispered finish. An elegant Nuits, all neatness and delicacy. A parcel of 50-year-old vines close to Clos des Porrets that, like its neighbour, also produces classic mineral Nuits but with a touch more roundness. The soils are similar although in Pruliers the stone elements are a little more broken down.

The 2021 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Pruliers 1er Cru has a simple nose with redcurrant and blueberry fruit and a light marine influence in the background, though it is not the most complex. The palate is medium-bodied with chalky tannins. I appreciate the fluidity of this wine, its poise and depth towards the finish and the brightness throughout. An accomplished 2021 that will give a lot of pleasure. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.
