Vosne-Romanée, Les Beaux Monts, 1er Cru, 2022
A touch more reserve here, cool silky small red berry fruit with a real whip and tension to it. Detailed and tightly coiled, with a well of minerality at its core. Cleansing, tonic Vosne. One of the cooler, stonier vineyards of Vosne, producing fine, silky mineral wines. Coming from two parcels in Beaux Monts, roughly half in the Bas section, the rest higher up, neighbouring Cecile Tremblay’s vines.

The 2022 Vosne-Romanée Les Beaux Monts 1er Cru has an expressive bouquet, not quite as precise as the Aux Brûlées at the moment, with more horsepower - a mixture of red and black fruit with a touch of sea spray. The medium-bodied palate has finely chiseled tannins. It is tensile and linear, veering more like the Aux Brûlées on the mineral-driven finish. Another superb Premier Cru from Grivot.
