Bonnes Mares, Grand Cru, 2019

justerini & brooks tasting note

Perhaps the most complex wine in the cellar. Layered flavours of bramble, plum, bullace and fruit liqueur complimented by more savoury elements of earth, pine and undergrowth. Deep and full like the Chapelle but with the length and elegance of Latricieres. Wonderful texture and length. The fruit is clearly very ripe but it is well balanced , smooth and complex. From 1.5HA planted on white soils on the Chambolle side of the appellation. Fermented with 40% whole bunches and aged in 80% new oak.

critic reviews

92-94/100Neal Martin,Vinous

The 2019 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru contains 50% whole bunch, matured in around 60–80% new oak. It has a well-defined bouquet of truffle-tinged black fruit, touches of blue fruit emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with a vibrant opening; good attack here, with edgy black cherry and boysenberry fruit, the concentration deriving from the very low yields of 25hl/ha. Quite persistent on the finish. This deserves several years in bottle
