Gevrey-Chambertin, Lavaux St Jacques, 1er Cru, 2018
The most lifted and aromatic of the Gevreys. It has this lovely ethereal, slender, elongated quality that speaks of its cool location. Airy, bright flavours of ripe red berries and cherries dance across the palate, notes of salt mixed with sweet touches of plum. Crystal clear and pure. An excellent 1er Cru, one of the appellation's higher, cooler vineyards next to Clos-St.-Jacques.
critic reviews
The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Lavaut Saint-Jacques 1er Cru is completely de-stemmed, as the domaine felt that the wine already came with sufficient natural spiciness. It has a very classy bouquet of copious red cherry and raspberry fruit, becoming a little darker with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, a fine bead of acidity, impressive symmetry and an elegant finish. This is the kind of wine that is becoming more synonymous with the domaine since their change of modus operandi. Superb.
