Etienne Sauzet
Puligny-Montrachet, Les Garennes, 1er Cru, 2024
justerini & brooks tasting note
A caressing La Garenne with a touch of stone fruit, some peachy flesh, alongside honeysuckle and pomelo. Very charming with a wave of yellow fruit across the mid-palate, a fact Benoit puts down to the depth of the soils, which counteracts the altitude of La Garenne. Just wonderfully alluring white Burgundy.

The 2024 Puligny-Montrachet La Garenne 1er Cru from the top of the slope has a pretty nose with light orange blossom and apricot scents unfolding with aeration. The palate is leesy on the entry, fine weight, not quite the same tension as some of the other Premier Crus but there is satisfying length. Probably one of the earlier drinking cuvées from Sauzet.
