Chambolle Musigny, Les Fuées, 1er Cru, 2024
One barrel. More spice and non-fruit complexity: black tea, iron, blood orange and herbal notes. Deeply-structured and tightly-wound, with real gravitas. Serious, inward and built for the long term. One of Chambolle’s highest Premier Cru vineyards, Ghislaine’s parcel is over 75 years old and produces intense, deeply complex and very refined wines from its rocky, stony, ferrous soils.
critic reviews
The 2024 Chambolle-Musigny Les Fuées 1er Cru is another cuvée reduced to just a single barrel this year. This takes a little more time to unfold on the nose, revealing cranberry, raspberry and strawberry scents with fine delineation and a touch of bergamot emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins that frame the pure red fruit and gentle grip, though it just misses the drive—that peacock's tail you get on a Fuées in a great millésime. Still, a delicious and refined Chambolle.
