Jean Noël Gagnard
Bâtard-Montrachet, Grand Cru, 2018
justerini & brooks tasting note
Open, clear, mineral nose leading to an expressive, powerful, melt-in-the-mouth, buttery texture. Layered, luxurious flavours of golden fruit, acacia and caramel with rays of mineral-piercing through the ripe fruit. This may be rich but does not lack in zest and offers tremendous clarity of flavour. A vineyard plot on the Chassagne-Montrachet side, planted on brown limestone and clay soils with some broken stones in the upper part of the vineyard. A gentle slope results in good drainage. The exposure to the sun is an ideal south to south-east.
