Majestic but controlled, noble and intense, with a lovely balance and the freshness of the vintage's acidity giving it a lovely sense of lift. Lots of complex stony notes counter the power that sometimes dominates at this early juncture. More and more arriving with air, salt, fresh bread, fine citrus, lemon and lime zest, almond cream, touches of smoke and a light extra layer of savoury umami-like complexity. Multi-faceted and beautifully balanced, a Bâtard that doesn’t feel like it would be in any way tiring to drink. Joyous. A vineyard plot on the Chassagne-Montrachet side, planted on brown limestone and clay soils with some broken stones in the upper part of the vineyard. A gentle slope results in good drainage. The exposure to the sun is an ideal south to south-east.
