Jean Noël Gagnard
Bâtard-Montrachet, Grand Cru, 2022
justerini & brooks tasting note
Smelling like cedrat and sweet lemon tart, this portrays a calm power, with a well of deep layered buttery fruit and a flowing core that glides across the palate. There’s a huge amount of dimension and depth to this but it also has a nimbleness and animation that keeps it lively and draws you back. A wine to take your time over, full of soul. Just two barrels produced. A vineyard plot on the Chassagne-Montrachet side, planted on brown limestone and clay soils with some broken stones in the upper part of the vineyard. A gentle slope results in good drainage. The exposure to the sun is an ideal South to South-East.
