Truly wonderful definition on the nose, fine layers of aroma, while the palate has a certain bold opulence to it – a demonstrative and broad-shouldered sweep of flavour with touches of struck match alongside confit citrus and poached pears. Powerful yet controlled, and truly Grand Cru in scale and ambition, with a lovely finish and persistence. A vineyard plot on the Chassagne-Montrachet side, planted on brown limestone and clay soils with some broken stones in the upper part of the vineyard. A gentle slope results in good drainage. The exposure to the sun is an ideal south to south-east.
