    Justerini & Brooks Tasting note

The Cailleret vineyard comprises some of Caroline Lestimée’s oldest vines (over 60 years old). A very different profile to the Morgeot, stonier, more reserved and less unctuous but with great tension, energy and power nonetheless, very long, fine lemon, lime and grapefruit notes with touches of salt, mineral and richer shades of acacia honey.

The 2008 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Cailleret has a delightful bouquet, perhaps now fully mature with almond, grilled walnut and light minty aromas developing in the glass. I appreciate the cohesion and focus here. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, quite phenolic and pithy. The acidity could maybe be a little higher just to counter that weight, although I like the unabashed spiciness and that tang of white pepper that lingers on the aftertaste. This is worth seeking out. Tasted at Sarah Marsh's 2008 White Burgundy tasting.
