Chassagne Montrachet, Les Chenevottes, 1er Cru, 2020
Full, fleshy Mirabelle fruit. Engaging and voluptuous but with some grip and structure there too. A touch of tannin compliments and reinforces the sunny, fresh, crunchy fruit. Impressive. A vineyard located at the northern edge of the village, on the Saint-Aubin side towards the bottom of the hill. The slope is gentle but enough to ensure good drainage. The soil is light clay mixed with iron-rich pebbles. Organically farmed. Ageing for 18 months half in used barrels, half in tank.
critic reviews
The 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Chenevottes 1er Cru offers crushed stone and touches of lemongrass on the nose. Good intensity. The palate is well balanced with a slight reduction, quite peachy in style with a waxy-texture, though it just needs a little more tension and brightness on the finish.
