Chambolle Musigny, 1er Cru, 2023
A spicy, herbal Chambolle that feels more backward than some others in this range. Nevertheless, the palate is silky and suave, with touches of earth and wild meadow herb, cracked coriander, wild hedgerow fruit and rosehip. A fine 1er Cru blend that comes from five high quality parcels; Les Combottes, Les Borniques, Les Haut Doix, Les Feusselottes, and Les Fuées.
critic reviews
The 2023 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru is pure and pretty, delivering aromas of sweet raspberries, cherries and spices, followed by a medium-bodied, bright and mineral palate, concluding with a perfumed finish. As usual, the blend is mainly composed of domaine fruit.
The 2023 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru comes from four of five different lieux-dits that are personally owned by the Drouhins. This is clean and pure on the nose. The 30% whole cluster is seamlessly integrated, with fine mineralité in the background. The palate is medium-bodied, silky smooth and beautifully balanced with fine tannins and a dash of white pepper and sous-bois toward the finish. This is a commendable follow-up to the 2022 and may even surpass it.
