Remi Rollin
Pernand Vergelesses, Ile de Vergelesses, 1er Cru, 2015
justerini & brooks tasting note
Intense but cool and composed. The palate begins with an onslaught of ripe, hedgerow berry fruit, but the wine then comes quickly into focus offering notes of raspberry cherry and plum with an undertow of rock salt, stone and earth. All of this wrapped in a fine-grained smooth tannic structure. As long and as intense as Pernand could be without sacrificing its great attributes of vitality and purity. One of the great 1er Cru bargains of the vintage. Aged for a year in 25% new oak.
