Remi Rollin
Pernand Vergelesses, Ile de Vergelesses, 1er Cru, 2017
justerini & brooks tasting note
The same ageing as the Pernand Fichots 1er Cru cuvée but this supports it much better. Well covered with suave salt-infused forest berry and herb characteristics, with a hint of red cherry giving bite. Classy and ample with a Pernand coolness and tension. Balanced, poised and fine. A stunner. Much rockier soils here and less iron-rich than Rollin’s other 1er Cru, Les Fichots. Aged for a year in 20% new oak.
