Remi Rollin
Pernand Vergelesses, Ile de Vergelesses, 1er Cru, 2018
justerini & brooks tasting note
There is a lot of limestone in the soil here and this translates into the wine with a cool, tight minerality quality. Chiselled, clear and focused but not one dimensional - the fruit is beautiful and lifting. Notes of wild raspberry and loganberry with a background vanilla pod sweetness and a chalky twist. Cool, airy and classy. Much rockier soils here and less iron-rich than with Rollin's other 1er Cru, Les Fichots. Aged for a year in 30% new oak.
