Nuits St Georges, Les Cailles, 1er Cru, 2010
A step up in elegance from the Pruliers; deep and complex, incredibly refined yet with a touch more muscle and brawn than usual. Elegant flavours of Victoria plum, small concentrated berries, fruit stone, cherry and sloe. From some of the oldest vines on the estate, averaging over 60 years old, situated on the Vosne side of the appellation.
critic reviews
The 2010 Nuits St. Georges Les Cailles comes across as cool, mineral infused and a bit reticent. With time in the glass the aromas and flavors begin to take shape. The Cailles remains a firm, structured Nuits that will require considerable patience, but its expressive fruit and gorgeous inner perfume bode very well for the future. Menthol, graphite, spices, tar and licorice wrap around the persistent, saline finish.
