Nuits St Georges, Les St Georges, 1er Cru, 2017
Dense and powerful. Clearly layered and complex. This needs time to reveal nuance but air gradually unveils notes of undergrowth, kirsch, wild strawberry and spices. A big, bold Nuits with a lengthy finish. Not unlike one of the richer Gevrey Grand Cru such as Mazoyeres. The great vineyard of Nuits-St.-Georges, perfectly situated mid slope, that has the potential to be the region’s only Grand Cru.
critic reviews
The 2017 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Saint-Georges 1er Cru has a very pure, very pretty bouquet that displays impressive delineation and focus; the pedigree is easy to see here. The palate is well balanced, very saline and sappy in the mouth, delivering good depth and substance and a spicy, almost fiery finish that wants to be noticed. Very promising, but give it time, because it clearly has a lot of potential. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting.
