After the more reserved Les Cailles, I was taken aback by the expressiveness of Chevillon's exquisite 2019 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Saint-Georges. Bursting with aromas of wild berries, orange rind, peonies, rose petals and spices, it's medium to full-bodied, lively and elegant, with superb depth at the core, ultra-refined tannins and a long, perfumed finish.
The 2019 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Saint-Georges 1er Cru has a sublime bouquet, a mixture of red and black fruit, sous-bois and light rose petal aromas, very harmonious and sophisticated; a light sea cave aroma emerges after a couple of minutes. The palate is well balanced with fine-grained tannins, taut and fresh, with a light marine influence and perhaps more salinity than the other Premier Crus on the finish. This has enormous potential.
