Clusel Roch
Côte Rôtie, Champon, 2020
justerini & brooks tasting note
From two parcels, one east facing planted on sandy and limey soils, the other west facing on the plain. A totally different profile to the Viaillère less immediate charm but tremendous nerve, bite and sinew. Gripping without being too austere. There is a solid structure supporting the earthy and spicy bramble, loganberry and bullace fruit, but the tannins are very polished and bind the wine together fluidly. Excellent freshness, too. Aged for two years in 20-25% new oak.
