Long, seamless and refined, this shouts grand terroir. There is nothing made or manipulated here, just pure class. More generous and open than Vieux Télégraphe usually is and despite its wonderfully elegant, engaging, gourmand forest berry, cherry and sweet red grenachey fruit, there is still just a suggestion of something held in reserve - the classic mark of Vieux Télégraphe. Beautifully balanced and poised with a long, clean, and clearly-defined fruit characteristics. A blend of 65% Grenache, 15% Syrah,15% Mourvedre and a small proportion of white varieties and Cinsault. Whole bunches from the old vines Grenache are included in the blend. All from the fine La Crau vineyard in the Bédarrides commune from vines averaging 60 years old. The grapes from younger vines are de-stemmed and after fermentation the wine is aged for ten months in concrete vats followed by ten months in wooden foudres.
