    Justerini & Brooks Tasting note

René Rostaing’s Côte Blonde is perennially one of the legendary wines of the Rhône, vintage after vintage. Never a shrinking violet, this is often a muscular, intense Côte-Rôtie of huge concentration that requires several years to show its greatness. The 2010 is among the very finest René has produced. Focused and fine but with a firm tannic backbone, there is a tremendous balance here between ripe lush fruit in the style of 2009 with an extra sappiness. This is so fresh, noble and complex, superb flavours of bramble, cassis, black and red cherry, violets, cedar wood, herb and pepper spices. A glorious wine that will reward cellaring.

Saturated ruby. A wild, intensely perfumed bouquet evokes red and dark berry liqueur, potpourri and incense, with an intense mineral overtone. Juicy, focused and deeply concentrated but light on its feet, offering palate-coating black raspberry and cherry-cola flavors that become fleshier with air. Finishes sweet and extremely long, with silky tannins, outstanding focus and a suave floral pastille quality.
