Côte Rôtie, Côte Blonde, 2012

justerini & brooks tasting note

The power and tannins are always more evident in this cuvée but they are suave nonetheless. This will take longer to reveal itself than the La Landonne, it is so layered and profound. Initially linear and powerful, the flavours gradually expand and flourish the longer the wine stays on the palate and in the glass; brimful of violet, red cherry, stone, undergrowth, herb, bramble and spice. This is a vin de garde that will reward great patience. Fermented with 100% whole bunches and aged in 20% new oak demi-muid barrels.

94/100Josh Raynolds,Vinous

Inky ruby. An exotically perfumed bouquet displays intense aromas of red fruit liqueur, potpourri, smoky minerals and white pepper; smells like a very serious Burgundy from a ripe year. Palate-staining raspberry and floral pastille flavors are accented by an exotic jolt of blood orange. Gains weight and sweetness with air, finishing with resonating minerality and outstanding persistence. This graceful wine should enjoy a long evolution thanks to its balance.
