Kirchenstück, Riesling, Grosses Gewächs, 2024
Lovely open white and yellow fruits, Kirchenstuck always offers a succulent style with a roundness of texture and subtle mint and flintiness. Gentle and fine and long. Hailing from a plot above the winery in Hohen-Sülzen, Kirchenstuck is located in a relatively flat vineyard with a high proportion of limestone and loess. The Grosse Lage (Grand Cru) section is only a small portion of the wider site.
critic reviews
The first bottle of the 2024 Kirchenstuck Hohen-Sulzen Riesling GG is somewhat dusty or even dull on the nose despiteor because ofthe Diam cork. The second bottle, also under Diam 10, is clearer, more brilliant and citrusy on the nose and significantly livelier. Juicy, spicy and racy on the palate, this is a vibrantly fresh and racy Riesling with plenty of substance and intensity despite the 2024 vintage and thanks to low yields of just over 30 hectoliters per hectare. It is very salty and lively on the finish and even ready to drink now. 12.5% stated alcohol. Diam 10 cork. Tasted in August 2025.
