Barolo, San Rocco, 2009

Ready,Mature
2017 - 2028
justerini & brooks tasting note

Glorious aromas of spice and flowers, the palate is equally seductive offering voluptuous, smouldering spiced fruit flavours of forest berry and bramble, together with distinct, vital notes of strawberry and raspberry. Haunting, harmonious and totally gripping. A powerful wine, this will require plenty of time in bottle before it’s ready but already displays great beauty. Stunning. A first class, clay-dominated, single vineyard from the Serralunga commune whose wines are very distinct from those of Bricco Fiasco, being often darker, denser and spicier. The vines are between 40 and 50 years old and the wine is aged in 20% new wood for 24 months

critic reviews

88/100Antonio Galloni,Vinous

The estate's 2009 Barolo San Rocco emerges with an intriguing bouquet that melds into a core of red fruit, spices, and crushed flowers. Some of the weight of Serralunga comes through, but here too, the pedigree of this site struggles to emerge. The immediacy of the fruit will provide good drinking for a few years, but not likely beyond.
