Barbaresco, Rombone, 2016
justerini & brooks tasting note
A fine, precise nose leads to a tight, intense palate. Handsome and finely-chiselled, this offers a crisp tannic framework to bolster the fruit. Firm, mineral limestone elements are followed by a wave of bright cherry and wild strawberry fruit. A deft, wonderful interplay of fruit ripeness and refreshing austerity. Such vitality and high definition. Brilliant. Barbaresco vineyard from the Treiso commune that sits 290 metres above sea level. The south south-west aspect ensures great sun exposure whilst the high limestone content in the soils structured but balanced and well-defined wines. Aged for 18 months in large old wooden cask.
